We do not however believe that the European Parliament has the competence to produce recommendations concerning debt relief for developing countries. This issue should be dealt with at national level and within the framework of already existing international structures, for example the Paris Club. We also note that money immediately loaned by the EU must be written off and that it must thus be entered in the accounts as an item of budgetary expenditure. For the above-mentioned reasons, we have chosen to vote against the motion for a resolution."@en1
