"Ladies and gentlemen, the world is going to take a long time to recover from the devastating earthquake which struck vast areas of South-East Asia two weeks ago. The devastating tsunami left behind it dreadful havoc. Tens of thousands dead, millions injured, family tragedies and indescribable suffering. Today, perhaps more than ever, we are aware, or should be aware, of the value of human life. In this context, I find it impossible not to react to the loss of human life in the name of “human rights”. Millions of unborn children who have not even had the chance of one day of life as well as thousands of old and sick people whom we are willing to help with suicide through euthanasia. The latest initiatives in the Netherlands simply take the breath away: euthanasia – the murder of living, disabled children. These are the consequences of a European tsunami – a culture of death. Are not our words of sympathy with the victims in South-East Asia just pure hypocrisy? Let each of us answer for ourselves. Thank you."@en1
