The European Union, founded in Rome in 1957, has always defined itself in Christian and democratic terms, based on Greek philosophy, Roman law and Christian faith. As a result of today's profoundly misguided decision by the European Parliament, we are abandoning this spirit of Rome. The former French President, Giscard d'Estaing, is quite right: it would indeed be the end of the EU as we know it. May God protect the West's Christian civilisation."@en1
