lpv:translated text	". I voted for the request for consultation of the Committee of the Regions – ERDF on the proposal for a Council regulation on the European Regional Development Fund. I think this consultation is essential in view of the importance of the ERDF in correcting regional imbalances. Regional disparities within the EU have become worse since the recent enlargement, because there has been a huge increase in the number of underdeveloped regions. I consider the harmonious development of the various regions of Europe to be a constant challenge to which we must respond with clear objectives and firm political decisions. The development of the Community’s territory, which has increased with enlargement, requires greater territorial cooperation, based on joint local development projects within the context of cross-border cooperation and on measures leading to integrated territorial development, for which we need the participation of all the regional players."@en1
