"Question No 24 by Linda McAvan () In response to a request from over 100 Members of the European Parliament from all 15 current Member States, the World Health Organisation recently agreed to look into making recommendations for improving the accuracy of national statistics on sudden unexplained death in young people. Experts across Europe deplore the fact that these deaths are registered and coded as due to causes which are sometimes vague or incorrect and as a consequence it is difficult to get an accurate picture of the real scale of the problem. Can the Commission elaborate on the possibilities which exist for Eurostat to contribute to the work of the World Health Organisation, particularly as regards training for coroners and pathologists, on recording sudden unexplained deaths for statistical purposes?"@en1
