".
The timetable I discussed with Parliament at various times will be adhered to. The Basel Committee expects to reach a conclusion by the middle of this year. Shortly thereafter the Commission will put forward a proposal for a directive, to be discussed under the system of codecision.
The report by Pricewaterhouse Coopers has now been made available to the Commission and it will be brought to the notice of Parliament very shortly. It is indeed true that time for the present Parliament is short but I can do no more than tell Parliament that the results of that study will be brought to the attention of Parliament very shortly. I am afraid that Mr Karas and other Members of Parliament will have to take it as it is. I cannot work on the study any faster but I look forward to discussing these issues, if not before the parliamentary elections then after the summer, even though personally I would be more than happy to discuss with interested Members of Parliament, elections or no elections, the implications of the Pricewaterhouse Coopers study."@en1
