".
I voted against the de Roo report. I am, of course, in favour of a scheme for greenhouse gas emission allowance trading, in order to make it easier for our economies to adapt to the constraints imposed by the objectives set out in the Kyoto protocol. I feel, however, that Parliament wants to introduce an overly bureaucratic system and pointless obstacles. This is all the more regrettable because the Kyoto protocol has not yet entered into force and, as a result of this, the United States, Russia and China will gain a competitive advantage over their European competitors."@en1
