I would make the same request in relation to the Lehne report. To explain, as Members of the House will know, Article 9 of the Protocol on the Privileges and Immunities of Parliament confers an immunity on Members of Parliament for expressions of opinion and votes cast in the exercise of their office. We believe that part of the German MEPs' Statute is incompatible with that. We request, in paragraph 3, that the Commission should verify whether clause 5 of the second sentence of that Statute is compatible with Community law. However, in Article 4, we omitted to refer the matter to the Commission in the properly formal way. Members will also wish to know that this concerns a case in which two Members of this House have been subjected to an injunction at the instance of to prevent them holding press conferences in this House criticising the conduct of in relation to the Members' Statute."@en1
