". – The Council does not have any specific information regarding the issues raised in Questionregarding the transfer of passenger data to NASA by Northwest Airlines, and is thus not really in a position to answer fully the questions raised by the honourable Member. The Council understands that the honourable Member has also referred his question directly to the Commission, which is the competent body in relation to most of the issues. However, I would say that detailed enquiries of this kind come within the competences of the data protection authorities in the various Member States. The competences of the data protection authorities in this case would be those linked to the specific flights concerned. For instance, for data collected concerning a flight between Boston and London Gatwick, the United Kingdom authority would be the competent authority, whilst for data collected on a flight between Boston and Amsterdam, the Dutch authorities would be responsible. As I said at the outset, I have not enough material to give a more comprehensive answer to the Member. I am sure the Member will understand that, within the range of material I have, this is as comprehensive as I can be."@en1
