I congratulate Mr Bowis on his excellent report on the proposal for a Parliament and Council regulation establishing a European Centre for Disease Prevention and Control, which has my support, especially as it is designed to improve communication, coordination and cooperation with the Dedicated Surveillance Networks. Establishing a European Centre for Disease Prevention and Control will enable the EU to draw up a long-term plan for Public Health, to respond quickly to epidemics and to react effectively to any potential outbreak or other incident, without teams in different Member States duplicating work."@en1
