"Mr President, I have taken the floor to speak about the internal organisation of Parliament. I asked for access to these buildings for a
a person who is working with me on a voluntary basis, and the request was refused. The reason I was given was that only accredited assistants are allowed access to the Strasbourg buildings outside part-sessions. I feel this is a particularly absurd decision, Mr President. The fact that we have two places of work is already absurd; for the Strasbourg site then to be completely closed to any possibility of work outside part-sessions for people who are not necessarily European Union employees, people officially registered as assistants, seems to me to be excessively bureaucratic. I would ask you, Mr President, to do something about this kind of rule which has been established and get it changed."@en1
