lpv:spoken text	"The next item is the debate on the European Convention: presentation of the draft Treaty establishing a Constitution for Europe. Colleagues, welcome to this special debate on the European Convention. I should like to welcome President Giscard d'Estaing, President Romano Prodi, Deputy Prime Minister Fini and Foreign Minister Frattini who will take part today in this reflection on the work of the Convention. This is the first opportunity that we in the European Parliament, in plenary session, have had to hear directly from the President of the Convention, reporting to this House on the outcome of the Convention and on the way forward for its content through the Intergovernmental Conference. At the outset I should like to place on record the deep admiration and respect that this House has for the work of the Convention and for the leadership provided – especially but not exclusively – by its President, Mr Valéry Giscard d'Estaing, who made an indispensable contribution to the successful and comprehensive outcome of the work of the European Convention."@en1
