That is why the Commission has proposed the creation of a stable operational framework to deal with the control of maritime borders. We asked for a feasibility study to be carried out. I shall present this next week to the informal Justice and Home Affairs Council in Rome. Our proposal is to create three permanent control centres for our southern maritime border. Meanwhile, we need to learn from both successful and less successful joint operations, in order to incorporate this knowledge in the project that we are going to present to the Council."@en1
