I must say that, also from personal experience, it would be desirable for their words to fall on more receptive ears than those we encountered as a European Parliament delegation when we raised this matter with the President of the United States Congress Foreign Relations Committee: we were answered, shall we say, in not particularly diplomatic terms. We have our courts and our Constitution and we will never allow a United States citizen to be tried and judged outside them.
