lpv:spoken text	"Mr President, I just want to explain why I voted in favour of Amendment No 1 to the Gill report. I think at a time when so many of our citizens are facing such uncertainty about pensions and other work-related benefits, it would be quite wrong of Members of this House to vote themselves extra privileges and would send out all the wrong signals. I am very pleased that on this side of the House at least the majority of colleagues voted against the proposal to extend health benefits to retired Members."@en¹
