What I stated in my explanation of vote for the De Sarnez report, also applies here, with regard to an initiative intended to encourage the integration of the new information and communication technologies into European education and training systems, improving their quality and accessibility. What is of particular significance is that the report underlines the fact that the programme is not designed to replace the Member States' actions in this sector, but to support and complement them. It will provide the financial contribution for pilot projects, for research and monitoring, for strategic actions by European networks and partnerships, for European organisations aiming to set up 'platforms', and for technical and administrative assistance in various sectors. I could therefore only vote in favour of the report."@en1
