For the first time the Commission has made a proposal that has undergone this broadened impact assessment, concerning employment policy guidelines. It is very important for our internal work that we stick to this impact assessment system. I hope that Parliament will take advantage of this too. When dealing with legislation Parliament will be able properly to assess the Commission proposal. The next challenge is how Parliament and the Council will assess the changes they might make to the Commission proposal. That is the issue for Parliament, the Council and the Commission in forthcoming discussions. Referring to the President's reply, we will have opportunities to discuss the matter further."@en1
