". Mr President, the report is neither optimistic nor pessimistic. There are two objective factors here. The first is the problem of the ageing population and the second is the rise in the entitlement age. Bearing both these in mind, the Member States have introduced specific policies in which raising the age limit on the labour market appears to be the basic option – in fact most countries now consider it prerequisite – alongside policies to help older people stay in the labour market. I think that we can avoid smaller pensions if we keep to the philosophy I referred to earlier."@en1
