The liberalisation of air transport has brought clear advantages for airline passengers. One need only think of the significant reduction in air ticket prices and, consequently, the impressive increase in passenger numbers. In a broadly positive climate for the consumer, there are still, regardless of security problems, aspects that require some attention and which have often led to justifiable complaints by these very users, especially with regard to disruptions caused by the delay or cancellation of flights.
I have, therefore, voted in favour of the entire range of proposals aimed at establishing appropriate compensation tariffs for disruption suffered by passengers as a result of overbooking
practised by airlines, as part of a policy that imposes clearly-defined responsibilities on these carriers."@en1
