". As a German and Bavarian Member of the European Parliament, I am sorely disappointed by the outcome of this vote. On behalf of my honourable friends in the CSU, with whom I voted for more stringent limit values, I must say quite emphatically that an opportunity to limit water pollution from recreational craft has been missed for many years to come. Unfortunately, it is our impression that recreational craft engine manufacturers are deliberately holding back on modern engineering – we have an example of this in Switzerland – so as to be able to argue as the rapporteur has done. It should be a cause of concern to anyone who supports motor-boat and sailing sports, knowing that more and more people enjoy these sports and leisure activities, that they are practised in as environmentally-friendly a manner as possible. This dubious outcome in plenary today is certainly nothing to write home about."@en1
