"Madam President, I have taken the floor just to commemorate the serious incident which took place yesterday in Ramallah, where an Italian freelance journalist from the
Raffaele Cirello, was killed during an exchange of fire by shots coming from an Israeli tank.
I am sad to say that this follows another extremely serious incident, the killing of another Italian journalist, Maria Grazia Cutuli, in Afghanistan. I would like these two people to be remembered by the European Parliament and I propose that the European Parliament’s pressroom be dedicated to them. When war correspondents and journalists are killed, the right to information and, therefore, a principle of freedom, is attenuated."@en1
