". – Mr President, I too would like to congratulate the rapporteur, who is nearly at the end of the second reading. I need to remind him, from a control point of view that we anticipate and look forward to him taking a keen interest in how the budget is implemented by the Commission next year and how he drives it forward from there. The Committee on Budgetary Control tabled a number of amendments to the budget to gain extra information and evaluations from the Commission. We are actually getting somewhere this year. It is a tactic we have decided to use in future years as well. We would also like to thank the Committee on Budgets for allowing us to have a say on transfers, in which we are particularly interested. Finally, I thank the rapporteur again for taking a keen interest in the amendment concerning the European Court of Auditors. We on the committee will be looking at this carefully because we understand that the Court of Auditors will be coming to us for more money, staff and resources in the future. We are very interested to see how this year's situation develops over the course of 2002."@en1
