"I would thank the Council of Ministers for its answer. I think it is extremely positive that an attempt is being made to reach a compromise. I intended to ask the Council of Ministers whether the compromise is based not upon absolute limit values but upon applying dietary recommendations in connection with the consumption of fish from the Baltic. Is it a compromise along those lines that is being considered? I also want to emphasise that the opportunity to eat herring from the Baltic, including the variety indigenous to the Baltic, is not only an economic issue but also an important cultural issue. Prohibiting fish from the Baltic would be rather like prohibiting mussels and in Belgium, something I imagine would be unthinkable."@en1
