".
Prominent in this report is a whole set of demands for speeding up the process of liberalisation in various sectors. It even criticises the Stockholm European Council for not having fixed a timetable for the definitive liberalisation of the gas and electricity markets, which is unacceptable. We also reject its call for Member States to move ahead rapidly and in a uniform way on opening up the energy, transport and postal services markets. It therefore comes as no surprise that it attacks the public monopolies, specifically in the field of electricity, that it calls for the local call market to be opened up or that it considers that the privatisation and liberalisation of public services will lead to lower prices and higher quality."@en1
