".
We Swedish Christian Democrats welcome the Directive on electricity from renewable energy sources. We accept that the electricity gained from incinerating that part of household waste which is biodegradable should be included in the national guiding targets. However, we would like to see incineration of unsorted household waste not being counted as electricity deriving from a renewable energy source. Therefore, we do not accept that incineration of unsorted household waste should receive aid.
We believe that the compromise negotiated with the Council in this case is too weak. In this regard the Council has reached a decision, but not understood its significance. However, we believe that the importance of the directive being adopted as quickly as possible, especially in view of the vital role which the EU has and must retain during the coming climate negotiations, constitutes sufficient grounds for supporting the compromise which has been negotiated with the Council in this respect. We therefore choose to support the compromise."@en1
