"Madam President, following on from the last comment, it is obvious that the Irish made their decision in a very democratic way, as did, alas, the British people, because they voted in this wonderful Labour government. But as we are trying to change what the Irish said in their referendum, maybe we should look at the British vote. Surely this House would have wanted to see a Conservative government returned, and on the basis of fact and realistic policy, people would have wanted to vote Conservative on Thursday last. That is the result that we would all have liked."@en1
