However, with a referendum taking place in Ireland next week, I felt that it would not be appropriate to participate in this vote as it is broader than the text of the Treaty itself. I look forward to the ratification of the Treaty and then one should deal with the other issues raised. I support the enlargement of the EU and the adoption of this Treaty will remove the final block to that development."@en¹
