This initiative for partnership between the Commission and United Nations bodies is important, in my opinion, as long as it is not detrimental to European development and humanitarian aid policies, the design and implementation of which are subject to the democratic control of this House. I would therefore urge you that it should not be limited to giving or supplying funds or delegating responsibilities to a bigger partner, but that this responsibility should also be monitored. My second question refers to the identity of Community aid, which is one of our fundamental pillars and which is focused on the non-governmental sector. I would like this aid to continue, and in this respect I am concerned about the relationship that NGOs often have with United Nations bodies.
