"Madam President, I would just like to point out to Mr Poettering that the problem in this Parliament is ensuring that Members receive equal treatment. The response to the case of Mr Berlusconi does not ensure equal treatment: indeed, if Mrs Frassoni – myself, that is – had been the person concerned in this case, I am sure that the President would have acted differently. There is no doubt about it. Therefore, Mr Poettering, the matter in hand is that of the equality of Members. That is the issue we must tackle and that is why Mr Corbett's question must be resolved by referring the question of the waiver of the parliamentary immunity of Mr Berlusconi without delay to the Committee on Legal Affairs and the Internal Market, precisely in order to preserve equality between all the 626 Members. We cannot continue to beat about the bush."@en1
