"Madam President, I apologise for interrupting proceedings, but I think that this situation justifies my action. We will be voting, this afternoon, on a motion for a resolution condemning a political group now active in Angola for having taken eight Portuguese citizens hostage. It so happens that representatives of the group which is alleged to be responsible for this act are amongst us here in the European Parliament. I consider that this situation is unacceptable and that measures should be adopted to ensure that this cannot happen. We cannot accept the presence in the confines of the European Parliament of representatives of a group that is holding eight Portuguese citizens hostage and which today we will be condemning in a resolution to be adopted by this Parliament. I therefore ask you, Madam President, to take measures to ensure that the individuals representing this group leave the European Parliament immediately."@en1
