"Allow me to stress that we are of the opinion – and I am talking now on behalf of the presidency – that the Ombudsman's recommendations regarding making documents available to the public is a very important step towards the increased openness which this Parliament in particular, has worked hard for.
The decision, which we anticipate it will be possible to take on 19 March, does not go as far as the Ombudsman has proposed, but must be seen as a step in the right direction. It is the presidency's sincere hope that it will be possible to take the additional steps required to increase openness as soon as possible. However, we will not have reached that position by 19 March, which I freely admit."@en1
