"Mr President, the Heaton-Harris report, which I voted in favour of, is a report on the efficiency of the European Monetary Institute and therefore on the situation of the euro. I have already had occasion to congratulate the European single currency, in other words, the euro, on its gain in strength in recent weeks, but today I would like to call for the establishment of a European bank. The EIB – European Investment Bank – should be closer to the European citizens as an actual bank, a credit institute as well. I therefore trust that my recommendation will be acted upon."@en1
