We are of the opinion that the application of the Convention for the Protection of the World Cultural and Natural Heritage in the EU is a task for Member States rather than for the European Community. It is difficult for us to see the added value of EU intervention in this matter. The ELDR amendments to the de Veyrac report reflect this position. Thus, for reasons of lack of added value and the principle of subsidiarity the ELDR Group will abstain in the final vote."@en¹
