"Question No 48 by Alexandros Alavanos is taken over by Mr Theonas ():
In its answer to my question E-3159/00 the Commission dealt only with diplomas awarded by French universities under franchise agreements with Greek free study centres to students taking courses in Greece in the initial years and usually spending their last year of study at the foreign university, from which they receive their diplomas. However, most of the franchise agreements the Greek free study centres have concluded have been with UK universities. What is the status of UK university degrees awarded under such agreements? Do they have to be recognised in Greece as falling under Directive 89/48/EECand, if so, in which subjects, and do they similarly apply in the other countries of the European Union?"@en1
