"We shall now proceed to the vote on the request for referral to committee made by the Group of the Party of European Socialists. With regard to the statements by the Council and the Commission on the third Asia-Europe Meeting, the Council has informed us that it does not wish to speak for the moment. That therefore leaves us with just the statement by the Commission. In order to group together the interventions by the President-in-Office of the Council, who has an extremely busy schedule, I propose that the statement by the Commission be inserted at the end of the joint debate on aid for reconstruction. Are there any objections? There are none. Then that is what we shall do. With regard to the statement by the Commission on BSE and the ban on animal meal in all animal feedingstuffs, the Group of the Party of European Socialists requests that the Council also make a statement on this matter. The Group is aware of the fact that Wednesday morning will be a very difficult time for the French ministers. The initial meetings that we have had at administrative level were not particularly fruitful, but I am quite prepared to intervene at a more political level, in the hope of achieving success."@en1
