In particular, the application of this designation is contrary to 1974 Directive 409, which is presently in force. Therefore, it has not been possible to date, to grant the Italian application for protection by means of a ‘certificate of specific character’ within the meaning of Regulation 2082. However, as you are aware, there is a proposal to amend this directive.
