"Greece is going through a period of transition which, I would say, equates with the first period of the policies concerning its accession to EMU.
It is clear that certain areas that have been mentioned have suffered delays in relation to other countries. I agree with you that especially the part about statistics is extremely important, not only for the assessment but also for the implementation of policies. The undertaking in the employment action plan is a clear undertaking. The recommendations make specific reference to this. The Employment Guidelines for 2000 give priority to the action plan. It is one of the issues to which the Greek Government has made a commitment. I hope that this time next year we will be in a better position."@en1
