lpv:translated text	"Mr President, Commissioner, ladies and gentlemen, Mr Clegg has already expressed his broad support, on behalf of the Liberal Group, for the Commission’s proposals, and his concern about certain specific aspects relating to the United States, as has just been mentioned. I would like to highlight the concern about an aspect which appears in the Liberal Group’s original motion for a resolution, whose first section refers to the need to reject any political interference in the Commission’s competition policy. If we apply this to the issue in question, the telecommunications sector, it is a well-founded concern given the cases which arose in Spain, a few months ago, involving the merger of Telefónica with a Dutch company, in Portugal and in other sectors in France. It worries us that there is still government interference in the actions of companies who are seeking appropriate dimensions and competitiveness at a European level. We therefore support the Commission’s proposals and we would like to draw attention to this aspect."@en1
