"Mr President, to begin with, I would like to say that I am speaking today on behalf of the Nordic Green Left Party. We think that the Tibetans should have the autonomy that they themselves are striving for. We are also concerned about China’s unwillingness to participate in a dialogue. I would like to address the Commissioner and say that I hope that the Commission has very good relations with the representatives of the World Bank. Decisions must, of course, be made by no later than tomorrow. We have therefore only got an extremely short time in which to influence the World Bank, to which this resolution is, of course, primarily directed. It is, of course, usually quite difficult to have any influence on the World Bank at all. I would therefore like to be told formally whether it is possible for Parliament to wield any influence at all or whether we should try in the course of the night to get hold of our government representatives. The Council is, of course, not represented here to any great extent."@en1
