"Mr President there is reason to be worried because we know there are problems in some of the Member States with illegal trading and illegal disposal of hazardous wastes. Of course the Greek Government and maybe also the local authorities should be asked how this has been handled. From the Commission side we can continue the legal proceedings and the legal procedures as they are set out for the Commission, but I think what is most effective in cases like this is open debate in the European Parliament. Of course we will keep an eye on this and keep up the pressure on Greece to report to us because that is the instrument we have available."@en1
