"Mr President, we do not necessarily need to think only in terms of measures of a legislative nature, although they are still important. Mr Manders and also Mr De Clercq, and likewise Mr Inglewood, have spoken of the need to harmonise certain measures of a legislative nature and that is important of course. Amendment No 8, which relates to this issue, is therefore acceptable to the Commission. However, as I said, we do not just need to think in terms of measures of the legislative variety. I am anticipating that the action plan I have just discussed will also generate support, as I said, for information and awareness campaigns regarding the dangers posed by counterfeiting and piracy.
Mr President, before I conclude my synopsis of the report and the Commission’s position, there is something I would just like to say to Mr Whitehead, whose speech focused largely on parallel imports."@en1
