"Mr Alyssandrakis says that my answer was not positive enough. It would be useful to remind him of his question. He asked whether the Council intends to raise this issue during the pre-accession process and to ask the Turkish Government to respect the rights of the Assyrian-Chaldean minority in Turkey and, in particular, to ensure the operation without hindrance of their monasteries. He specifically referred to two monasteries. I have no idea what more positive answer I could give him than to simply say yes. It is the Council’s and the EU’s intention to raise this issue with the Turkish authorities during the pre-accession process. Once again, if this is not a clear answer, I have no idea what is."@en1
