"I have to stress, Madam President and Members of Parliament, that my responsibility rests in the area of public health and consumer protection. I have said on a number of occasions, including in this Parliament, that the primary consideration must be the protection of the public. In circumstances where there might be a conflict between the protection of consumers, particularly their health, and monetary issues, public health must, of course, take precedence. That is not to say that the considerations that you draw attention to should be ignored. They cannot, but in any situation of conflict where you have to choose one or the other, public health must always prevail."@en1
