"Mr President, I believe I can shed some light on the matter. I have read the French version of the text, and it is completely different from the Italian version at this point. The Italian says "not to imprison child abusers", which seems absurd to me, whereas the French reads: “not to imprison young people who commit offences” which, I think, must be the original meaning. This a serious translation error. I feel sure that the Italian is a mistranslation. The original version probably said “not to imprison young people who commit offences, except in special cases”. I think this is the root of the problem."@en1
