Recently, the immunity of a former Commissioner was lifted and proceedings are currently pending before a judge in Brussels on the basis that Brussels is the seat of the Community institutions. Yet these institutions have other seats and, given that the Community’s actions affect the whole Community territory, there are in fact thousands of courts which could judge officials, Commissioners and so on. Is the Commission aware that, in order to lift immunity, it would be necessary to adopt a new legal instrument to regulate the procedure for holding Commission officials accountable, including former and current Commissioners?"@en1
