Before the vote at the plenary sitting, new amendments have been tabled such as have already been voted down by the Committee. In the divided situation which has now arisen, we therefore consider that the Council’s wordings are the best. We need a directive in this area, and we also therefore want to avoid a complicated conciliation procedure. The directive concerning end-of-life vehicles will stand as an example for future legislation. It is therefore important that the manufacturer’s liability should be clear.
