"Mr President, Commissioner, I should like to pay tribute to Dimitry Neverovsky, a member of the transnational radical party, a member of my party, who has been sentenced to two years in prison for being a conscientious objector, for having objected to the war in Chechnya. I should also like to pay tribute to the militants of the transnational party who have been the only ones in Moscow to demonstrate against the war in Chechnya. Unfortunately, I believe that we will not be able to pay tribute, for the reasons outlined by Mrs Schroedter, to our Commissioner, Mr Poul Nielson, who, in four months, has not found the time to go to Chechnya, to the region, to see to it that the European Union, at least in humanitarian terms – not in political terms, but at least in humanitarian terms – responds in a satisfactory way to the tragedy that is unfolding. I believe that is very serious. I hope that in the next few days we shall finally see Mr Nielson in Chechnya, well in the region at least, in Ingushetia, dealing at last with these refugees."@en1
