"Madam President, I voted on behalf of the Pensioners’ Party for this report on reform of the Commission. In the preamble, it says that we are voting on this measure because we need to restore the confidence of the European citizens in the process of European integration. It is therefore right for fraud to be eradicated and for us to have a Commission regulation that prevents us lapsing back into situations which, as I said earlier, give rise to the same old black sheep. In any case, Mr Berthu, who has just spoken, did well to say that what counts is what you do. The confidence of the citizens, including the pensioners of the European Union, will not be won through thousands of regulations and subsections alone but, above all, through swift, practical action by the Commission and staff reductions in Parliament, the Commission and the Council."@en1
